Is there an online FE exam study group?

Yes. Online FE exam study groups exist, and the named paid options charge a fee. FE Academy on Skool is $89 a month and includes weekly office hours plus a student community. Engineer Exam Lab Standard is $59 a month or $590 a year, with a new FE problem every day and a 7-day free trial. PPI and School of PE sell live online classes that run as a cohort, and you can also organize your own group.

What kinds of online FE study groups are there?

People use three setups when they want company for FE exam practice.

A paid community stays open month after month: you log in, post a question, and see what other members are working on. FE Academy and Engineer Exam Lab both run on Skool in this pattern, and you can keep posting in later months for as long as you remain a member.

A course cohort is the group inside a live class. PPI and School of PE sell FE Civil live online classes, so your group is the people on that roster and your pace is the class calendar.

A self-organized group is one you start with classmates or coworkers. You choose the problems, the meeting time, and the chat tool, and that group has no seat fee from the companies in the table below.

If both Skool groups are on your list, FE Academy vs Engineer Exam Lab compares the two formats. The page on PrepFE, PPI, School of PE, and Engineer Exam Lab compares price and format across those options.

What the paid options include

These are the published figures as read on October 3, 2026.

Option Price How you work with other people
FE Academy $89 a month Weekly office hours, student community, direct instructor support
Engineer Exam Lab Standard $59 a month or $590 a year Daily problem and solution, Saturday timed mock, Ask category
PPI FE Civil Live Online From $1,295 (sale; regularly $1,795) Live online class. Tutoring plus Live Online from $1,595
School of PE FE Civil Live Online plus OnDemand from $1,199 Live classes packaged with OnDemand

FE Academy’s About page also lists a lecture library covering math, ethics, engineering economics, statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, civil engineering materials, and fluid mechanics, along with a full FE Civil practice exam and a TI-36X Pro calculator course.

Engineer Exam Lab posts a new FE problem every day at 6:00 AM Central and the full worked solution at 6:00 PM Central, starting with its first daily problem on October 4, 2026. A weekly timed mock posts Saturday at 9:00 AM Central. Members post questions in the Ask category, and the tutor answers with steps.

The problems are original. Software generates them from the formulas in the NCEES reference handbooks, and every answer is computed and checked by code before it is posted, with a second AI model checking the wording. Each solution names the handbook section and page, the equation, the substitution with units, and why each wrong option is wrong.

New members get a 7-day free trial. There are no refunds, but you can cancel any time in Skool settings, and access runs to the end of the paid period. Premium (PE) costs $89 a month or $890 a year and includes everything in Standard.

PPI also sells self-paced FE Civil products on the same page. Learning Hub self-study is $149 a month, or $399 for 3 months, $649 for 6 months, and $849 for a year. The OnDemand course is $395 a month, or $995 for 4 months, $1,195 for 6 months, and $1,395 for a year, listed as sale prices. Buy the live online course when you want a class with other students.

School of PE lists FE Civil OnDemand at $349 a month, or $1,099 for 4 months, $1,499 for 6 months, and $1,999 for 12 months. An FE Civil question bank is $139 for 1 month or $399 for 4 months. The live option is Live Online plus OnDemand classes from $1,199.

PrepFE sells practice access as a one-time total with no auto-renewal: $79.99 for 1 month, $99.99 for 3 months, or $119.99 for 6 months, and it advertises a free repeat subscription. Plans list interactive and timed practice exams, topic exams, 500+ FE practice problems with step-by-step explanations, flash cards, a strengths and weaknesses breakdown, and iOS apps. The published plan list has no student community or office hours.

NCEES sells its own practice exams inside MyNCEES, and the price is shown after you log in.

How to use a study group well

Post your own attempt before you read the written solution. Include the equation, the numbers you substituted, and the units, and name the step where you think the work went wrong. A tutor or a classmate can answer that post.

Tie the group to a plan you can finish. One way to split the time is a 60-day FE study plan: bring the topic for that week, work the group’s problem, and write down the trap when a solution explains a wrong option. On a daily community, work the morning problem with the handbook, then compare your units to the evening writeup. Keep a short error list in your own words so you can explain a step another engineer can follow.

What you can post in a study group

NCEES lists sharing exam questions, practice exam questions, handbook content, or design standards content as irregular behavior that can lead to invalidated results. The same limit applies in a paid community, a live class chat, and a group you run with friends.

Post original work only. Engineer Exam Lab requires that members never post questions or answers from their actual exam, and pirated books and question banks are not allowed. You can describe your setup in your own words, name the FE Reference Handbook section you used, and show the substitution with units. For an official practice exam, use the one NCEES sells in MyNCEES.
