What is the best online community for FE exam practice?
There is no single best online community for FE exam practice. Pick the one that posts problems with full worked solutions, timed practice, and answers to your questions. Two Skool options publish prices you can check: FE Academy at $89 a month, and Engineer Exam Lab Standard at $59 a month or $590 a year, with a 7-day free trial. Course catalogs from PPI and School of PE are separate FE Civil prep purchases at higher published prices.
What should an FE practice community include?
You are choosing a practice community, so judge the feed before the brand name. Use the same checks on every offer:
- Problems arrive on a schedule and include a full worked solution.
- The solution shows the handbook location, the equation, the substitution with units, and why the other choices fail.
- Timed practice is part of what you pay for, since pacing is part of the exam.
- A person answers member questions in writing, with steps, while the topic is still in your week.
- The rules bar copied exam items and pirated books or banks.
Those checks line up with where daily FE practice problems are posted and with what an online FE study group usually includes. NCEES also sells its own practice exams inside MyNCEES.
What do FE Academy and Engineer Exam Lab include?
FE Academy
FE Academy on Skool costs $89 a month. Its About page lists a lecture library in math, ethics, engineering economics, statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, civil engineering materials, and fluid mechanics, plus a full FE Civil practice exam, a TI-36X Pro calculator course, weekly office hours, a student community, and direct instructor support. The difference between FE Academy and Engineer Exam Lab puts both feature lists on one page.
Engineer Exam Lab
Standard, the FE plan, costs $59 a month or $590 a year. Premium, the PE plan, costs $89 a month or $890 a year and includes everything in Standard. New members get a 7-day free trial, though there are no refunds once you pay. You can cancel any time in Skool settings, and access runs to the end of the paid period.
A new FE problem posts every day at 6:00 AM Central, and the full worked solution posts at 6:00 PM Central; the first daily problem posts on October 4, 2026. A weekly timed mock posts Saturday at 9:00 AM Central, and members post questions in the Ask category, where the tutor answers with steps.
The problems are original, generated by software from the formulas in the NCEES reference handbooks. Every answer is computed and checked by code before it is posted, and the wording is checked by a second AI model. Posts and replies written by AI carry a robot mark. Each solution names the handbook section and page, the equation, the substitution with units, and why each wrong option is wrong. How you use the FE Reference Handbook covers the lookup those solutions point to.
What do PPI, School of PE, and PrepFE sell?
PPI, School of PE, and PrepFE sell FE courses or problem banks, and the next section lists their public totals. FE exam prep options for 2026 gathers those catalogs, and PrepFE vs PPI vs School of PE vs Engineer Exam Lab compares them directly.
PPI’s FE Civil lineup is Learning Hub self-study, an OnDemand course, Live Online, and tutoring plus Live Online. On its page, the OnDemand prices are sale prices, and Live Online is listed from a sale price against a regular price. School of PE’s FE Civil lineup is OnDemand, a separate question bank, and Live Online plus OnDemand classes.
PrepFE sells 1 month, 3 months, or 6 months as a one-time total with no auto-renewal. The 3-month plan works out to about $33.33 a month, and the 6-month plan to about $20.00 a month. Plans list interactive and timed practice exams, topic exams, 500+ FE practice problems with step-by-step explanations, flash cards, a strengths and weaknesses breakdown, and iOS apps. What are you not allowed to share?
NCEES lists sharing exam questions, practice exam questions, handbook content, or design standards content as irregular behavior that can lead to invalidated results. You can discuss how you solved an original problem and which handbook section you used. Pasting the exam, a practice exam, handbook pages, or design standards is the sharing NCEES flags.
Engineer Exam Lab applies that boundary to members: you must never post questions or answers from your actual exam, and pirated books and question banks are not allowed. A group that circulates scanned books or leaked items is outside those rules.
How do you test a community before you pay?
Use Engineer Exam Lab’s 7-day free trial on the real schedule: solve the daily problem, read the solution that posts at 6:00 PM Central, and ask one question in the Ask category. Check that the writeup cites the handbook and shows the units, and that AI posts carry the robot mark.
On FE Academy, match the About page list to your exam before you pay the $89 monthly fee. The practice exam named there is a full FE Civil practice exam, and the lecture list includes civil engineering materials. PrepFE does not auto-renew, so you choose a one-time term of 1 month, 3 months, or 6 months. On PPI and School of PE, set the single-month price next to the multi-month package on the same page and pick the length you will finish.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a Skool community for the FE exam?
Yes. FE Academy and Engineer Exam Lab both run on Skool. FE Academy costs $89 a month and lists a lecture library, a full FE Civil practice exam, a TI-36X Pro calculator course, weekly office hours, a student community, and direct instructor support. Engineer Exam Lab Standard costs $59 a month or $590 a year and includes a 7-day free trial, a daily problem with an evening solution, and a Saturday timed mock. Premium costs $89 a month or $890 a year and includes everything in Standard.
Are FE study communities worth it?
They earn the fee when you work the problems on schedule, sit the timed sets, and ask the questions the solution left open. A membership does not do that work for you. PPI and School of PE fit when you want an FE Civil course: Learning Hub starts at $149 a month, and School of PE OnDemand starts at $349 a month. PrepFE fits when you want timed exams and 500+ explained problems, sold as $79.99, $99.99, or $119.99 with no auto-renewal, plus a pass guarantee in the form of a free repeat subscription.
Is it allowed to discuss FE exam questions online?
NCEES treats sharing exam questions, practice exam questions, handbook content, or design standards content as irregular behavior that can lead to invalidated results. Discuss an original practice problem without pasting those materials. Engineer Exam Lab tells members never to post questions or answers from their actual exam, and it does not allow pirated books or question banks. If a thread is passing around copied banks or photographed items, stay out of it.
What happens when you cancel Engineer Exam Lab?
New members receive a 7-day free trial, and you cancel any time in Skool settings. Cancel during the trial if you do not want a charge. There are no refunds after you pay. Access then runs to the end of the paid period, for the month or the year you bought.
